VEHICLE IN SHOP, READY FOR INSPECTION. TECH HOOKED UP BATTERY FOR ODOMETER READING. NO DTC PRESENT. ENGINE IS COMPLETELY TORN DOWN. TECH ADVISED THE VEHICLE CAME IN FULL OF OIL. RESIDUAL OIL IN PAN IS IN FAIR CONDITION WITH LOTS OF METAL CONTAMINATION PRESENT. TECH DEMONSTRATED CYLINDER 1 ROD BEARING IS SPUN WITH SCORING TO THE CRANKSHAFT AND MATING ROD.. NO SIGNS OF ENGINE LEAKS OR BEING RAN LOW. NO EXCESSIVE CARBON BUILD UP. THE PISTONS ARE WORN THROUGH THE TEFLON COATING ON THEIR SKIRTS. NO SLUDGE/VARNISH PRESENT. NO OTHER FAILURES SEEN/DEMONSTRATED. NO SCORING TO THE CAMSHAFTS OR CYLINDER HEAD SEEN. NO OUTSIDE INFLUENCE NOTICED. VEHICLE NOT RACKED, NO OPEN BAY. TECH RECOMMENDS REPLACING TURBO DUE TO METAL CONTAMINATION, NO FAILURE DEMONSTRATED TO THE TURBOCHARGER.
CYL 1 ROD BEARING HAS MATERIAL FAILURE CAUSING CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE TO CRANKSHAFT AND ROD FROM CONTINUED OPERATION. INITIAL BEARING FAILURE APPEARS IN PROGRESS PRIOR TO 291 MILES. MULTIPLE PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS ARE ALSO A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR
