CUSTOMER STATEMENT- CS FROM PRIOR CLAIM CL10643191- VANESSA- STATMENT- MAKING NOISE ENGINE - 1ST NOTICED-- 2 WEEKS AGO - ASK FOR UP TO LAST 12 MONTHS OF SERVICE/REPAIR HISTORY RECEIPTS THEY WOULD HAVE TO FIND THE ONLY OIL CHANGE (2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS STATEMENT WOULD BE ON 3/31/22 SHOP FINDINGS- CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE, ENGINE IS DISASEMBLED, ONE OF THE PISTON'S IS GONE, FOUND PIECES IN THE OIL PAN, COMPROMISED THE BLOCK, BENT ROD, DAMAGED CRANKSHAFT REQUEST FOR INSPECTION- ** HAVE INSPECTOR CALL TO SET UP APPOINTMENT WITH THE SHOP ** HAVE TECHNICIAN DEMONSTRATE FAILURE / VERIFY/ DETERMINE CAUSE OF FAILURE. PRIOR SHOP PROVIDED AN OIL PRESSURE READING WHICH WOULD INDICATE THE ENGINE WAS ABLE TO RUN AT THAT TIME. NOW THE ENGINE CONDITION INDICATES THE ENGINE IS NOT OPERABLE. REQUESTING INSPECTION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE- WHY IS THE ROD BENT AND THE PISTON SHATTERED? VALVES DO NOT SHOW IMPACT THAT WOULD CAUSE THE PISTON DAMAGE. WAS ENGINE HYDRO-LOCKED? PLEASE VERIFY CYLINDER HEAD/BLOCK AND HEAD GASKET ARE NOT COMPROMISED ALLOWING COOLANT/WATER INTO ENGINE. PROVIDE PICTURES TO DOCUMENT HEAD, BLOCK AND GASKET INTEGRITY. ALSO ASK SHOP WHAT THEY THINK IS THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. VERIFY OIL PICKUP INTEGRITY AND BEARING IS NOT DAMAGED FROM LACK OF LUBRICATION. IF CODES LISTED IN CAR FOR FAILURE, SHOP NEEDS TO DEMONSTRATE ALL TESTING, HOW THE VERIFIED FAILURE AND LIST STEPS , VERIFY CURRENT, ACTIVE AND IF ANY TESTING PER CODE TO SHOW FAILURE. SUPPORT FINDINGS WITH PHOTOS: PLEASE LABEL ALL PHOTOS CHECK FOR RUST AND CORROSION, LACK OF LUBRICATION, OVERHEATING, COMMERCIAL, UBER, LYFT, TAXI USE, CONTINUED OPERATION OR MODIFICATIONS. DID THESE MODIFICATIONS AFFECT THE FAILURE?

Failed Components and Extent of Damage
ENGINE: VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN, ENGINE WAS NOT ABLE TO RUN AT THE TIME. THE SHOP DID NOT RECORD ANY FAULTS, BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED. LEFT BANK HEAD IS REMOVED, ALONG WITH THE OIL PAN. THE SHOP RECOVERED 4 QUARTS OF DIRTY, BLACK OIL, FULLY METAL CONTAMINATED. THE #5 PISTON HAD COME APART, AND AS THE ROD WAS STILL CONNECTED TO THE CRANKSHAFT, THE SMALL END WITH THE PIN DAMAGED THE CYLINDER BORE. THE ROD BEARING WAS DESTROYED, WITH PARTICLES STILL FRICTION WELDED TO THE CRANK JOURNAL. THE CYLINDER HEAD WAS DAMAGED FROM THE BROKEN PARTS OF THE PISTON. THE CONN ROD IS NOT BENT-NO EVIDENCE OF HYDROLOCK. THE ENGINE CRANKSHAFT IS BINDING IN THE BLOCK, CAN BE TURNED, BUT VERY STIFF. NO VISIBLE SLUDGE IN THE BOTTOM END, THE PAN IS FULL OF FINE METALLIC PARTICLES, ALONG WITH THE LARGER PIECES OF PISTON. IT APPEARS THAT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, WHEN IT SPUN THE #5 CONN ROD BEARING, BUT THE CLIENT CONTINUED OPERATION IN THAT DAMAGED STATE UNTIL TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED. #5 PLUG IS DAMAGED FROM BROKEN PISTON BITS, AS IS THE #5 CHAMBER IN THE HEAD, WITH THE VALVES BENT
