Failed Components and Extent of Damage
THERE WAS ALMOST NO FLUID IN THE OLD TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE TECH KEITH REMOVED THE DRAIN PLUG ALMOST NO FLUID CAME OUT LESS THEN 1 OUNCE AND IT WAS BURNT AND HAS METAL DEBRIS IN IT. HE HAD PIC A ON HIS PHONE SHOWING THE DRAIN PLUG HAD HEAVY HARD METAL DEBRIS ON IT. THERE WAS NO PLACE UNDER THIS VEHICLE THAT SHOWED ANY FLUID LEAKS PAST OR PRESENT AND THE OIL ON THE DIPSTICK WAS APROXMENTLY 1/4 QUART OVER FULL. THIS IS NORMAL THIS OIL FILTER MOUNTS UP SIDE DOWN AND IT DRAINS BACK INTO THE ENGINE AND THE OIL IS SLIGHTLY OVER FULL. THE ENGINE OIL DRAIN PLUG SHOWS NO TAMPERING AND NO OIL LEAKS FROM THE ENGINE OR ANY PLACE AROUND THE TRANSMISSION . THE VEHICLE HAS GONE 6,229 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE. NO SLUDGE INSIDE THE OIL FILTER WHEN I HAD THE TECH REMOVE IT.
NONE COULD NOT SCAN FOR CODES BECAUSE OF TEAR DOWN AND THE TECH STATED HE DID NOT SCAN FOR CODES PRIOR TO TEAR DOWN.
UNKNOWN THE EXACT CAUSE AND HOW THE TRANSMISSION BECAME EMPTY WHEN IT WAS TOWED INTO THIS RF BUT THERE IS NO FLUID RESIDUE AROUND THE FRONT AXLE AREAS OR ANY PLACE AROUND THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE TECH ALREADY HAD THE OLD TRANS STRAPPED INTO A SHIPPING CRATE HE REMOVED THE TOP FOR INSPECTION. THE TECH HAD A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF FLUID IN A CONTAINER LESS THEN 1 OUNCE THAT WAS THE ONLY FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN HE REMOVED THE TRANS DRAIN PLUG AND IT HAD A HEAVY AMOUNT OF HARD METAL DEBRIS ON IT. HE HAD A PIC ON HIS CEL PHONE FOR ME TO INSPECT. BUT THIS VEHICLE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVING ANY PLACE MUCH LESS THE HIGHWAY WITH NO FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION THIS VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE MOVED AT ALL WITH OUT FLUID IN IT.
Recommendations for Repair
THE TECH HAS ALREADY INSTALLED A NEW TRANS MISSION IN THE UNIT THERE IS NO DIP STICK ON THIS TRANSMISSION.
