WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE STARTED TO HICCUP. ISSUE STARTED TO RESOLVE, THEN RETURNED. PRESSED ACCELERATOR IN A ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE ISSUE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. LIGHT WENT OFF, AND THEN CAME BACK ON AGAIN. HAS ZERO POWER. CUSTOMER FOUND OIL DRIPPING ONCE PULLED OVER, AND OIL SPLATTERED ALL OVER UNDER HOOD. MULTIPOINT INSPECTION. SCOTT TRAUB. SONORA FORD SUBARU 7/1/2021

THE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THERE IS A HOLE IN THE RIGHT UPPER TIMING COVER AREA. THIS SUGGESTS THAT THE CHAIN IS LOOSE AND THAT PERHAPS A GUIDE OR TENSIONER FAILED. THE TECHNICIAN DECLINED TO START IT UP FOR ME. THE TECHNICIAN STATES THAT ALMOST CERTAINLY, IT HAS JUMPED TIME AND CAUSED THE VALVES TO BEND, AND MIGHT HAVE DAMAGED THE PISTONS AS WELL. FURTHER TEAR DOWN WOULD BE NECESSARY TO DISCOVER THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE. NO OTHER FAILURES SEEN OR DEMONSTRATED.
NO CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS ESTABLISHED.
