THIS VEHICLE IS AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY ARE NOT ADEQUATELY PREPARED AS THEY DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PULL TSBS AND THEY DO NOT HAVE A BORESCOPE. UNFORTUNATELY I DON’T HAVE MY BORESCOPE WITH ME TODAY.
INSPECTION FOUND VEHICLE IN SHOP AT TIME OF ARRIVAL. VEHICLE IS IN AVERAGE CONDITION FOR ITS AGE AND HAS NO MODIFICATIONS PRESENT. LOF STICKER AND WINDOW PLACES OIL WITHIN SERVICE RANGE. COOLANT IS EMPTY IN THE RESERVOIR AT TIME OF ARRIVAL. SHOP HAS ALREADY STARTED VEHICLE WHEN PULLING INTO SHOP PRIOR TO MY ARRIVAL. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND LET IT RUN FOR A MOMENT AND I GOT A SMALL AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE FROM THE TAIL PIPE THAT SMELLS LIKE COOLANT.
SHOP ATTACHED TO SCAN TOOL TO THE VEHICLE AND RETRIEVE CODES
P0217 ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE OVER TEMP
P026B7 ENGINE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE C CONTROL CIRCUIT
SHOP HAS A BLOCK TESTER AVAILABLE BUT TECHNICIAN DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO ACCESS THE COOLANT RESERVOIR AS IT’S BLOCKED BY THE COWLING. TECHNICIAN FILLED UP COOLANT RESERVOIR AND RAN VEHICLE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND BUBBLES START TO APPEAR IN COOLANT. AND VEHICLE RUNS ROUGH. TECHNICIAN SAID THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEY ARE TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I ASKED THE
TECHNICIAN TO REMOVE THE SPARK PLUGS FOR INSPECTION AND HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CYLINDER THREE AND FOUR SPARK PLUGS OUT AND THE NUMBER FOUR SPARK PLUG IS VISIBLY WET WITH COOLANT.
SHOP STATES THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DEMONSTRATE AT THIS TIME. I’M SORRY I WASN’T ABLE TO COLLECT MORE I’VE BEEN ON SITE FOR NEARLY 2 HOURS TO GET THE INFORMATION THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDED.
FINDINGS INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH THE HEAD GASKET OR BLOCK AND THERE IS LIKELY A TSB THAT APPLIES TO THIS VEHICLE FOR THE ISSUE.
